No more shine
A poem
I look at those eyes.
They are dull
and empty,
staring blankly ahead.
They used to shine,
from excitement,
from joy,
They were burning
with pure passion
for life, for love and fun.
That shine is no longer there,
not even a flicker.
Whatever used to be the spark,
it’s long gone now.
I feel sorry for those eyes,
for the person behind those eyes.
I see that they try to hide the darkness,
the sadness, the emptiness,
the anger and desperation,
as best as they can.
I wish they could experience joy again.
I hope the spark will be rekindled,
burning brighter than any star.
As I look into the mirror,
a tear runs down my cheek.
Those dim eyes staring back,
nobody knows what they’re hiding.
Nobody really cares anyway.
Every day, it’s getting harder,
to put on this facade,
to play in this charade,
to put on a smile
and pretend to be okay.
I wrote this poem a while ago, but it still deserves to be published.

Ķikou très joli poème avec une tendre émotion
It does indeed deserve to be published. Very good at conveying the emotion as is the case in most of your poem. As I read it I too feel for these eyes
